It seems like the warm weather is playing a game of hide and seek here in Ottawa. One day it’s sunny and 30 degrees, (Celsius) the next it’s 15 degrees and raining. It makes getting dressed everyday kind of challenging but on Mother’s Day I was determined to look summer-y for brunch at my sister’s place. I purchased this Vero Moda dress last summer whilst on vacation in Montreal. It is light and airy with a bit of texture to the fabric and has a beautiful open-back with triangular cutout details.
The jacket is a textured zip-up, collarless blazer from Mango; I really love the fit and pleated shoulders on this lined, super comfortable jacket. My shoes are from Asos and are just a simple, medium-height black pump with a slightly rounded toe. The handbag I chose is my tri-colored Marc Jacobs bag, which can also be worn cross-body. This bag ties the look together nicely as it incorporates two of the colors already shown in my look. All of the jewellery I am wearing is from Stella & Dot.
White can be a challenging color to keep clean (I’m definitely on my guard when I wear it!) but it gives you almost limitless outfit pairing possibilities. You can wear an all white look, a look with white and beige, white and black or white with one or two colors mixed in; it is incredibly versatile and it looks great on every skintone. If the dress you choose is fitted, I recommend pairing it with a loose or flowy jacket, whereas if you decide to wear a more loose-fitting dress, you might want to go for a fitted blazer; proportions matter.
